Geert de Cock

Manager, Electricity and Energy

European Union (Brussels)

Geert joined T&E in July 2019 after a decade in advocacy roles in Brussels for organisations representing civil society and industry. Geert leads T&E’s work on policies that will enable the electricity grid to integrate the millions of electric vehicles that will hit the EU’s roads in the coming years. In his previous positions Geert worked on a host of environmental and energy dossiers, ranging from the EU’s Clean Energy Package negotiations to Ecodesign and Energy Labelling policies to a campaign to ban fracking for shale gas.

Geert hails from Belgium, but also has Canadian citizenship. He holds a law degree from the University of Ghent, a masters in European studies from KU Leuven and a PhD in political science from the University of Alberta. He speaks Dutch, English, French and some German. On the weekend, you can find him cruising his race bike up and down the hills around Brussels, in the fine company of the Brussels-based cycling group GS Fartlek.
